His children will have no daddy …
His wife will have no husband …
We will not see him coming to kindy again…
Tears flow down my cheeks as i type…
I know he has moved on…
I know he has in fact gone to a much much better place… a place with no tears… a place of light and happiness…
I know he is now in fact much better … no more pain … no suffering… having a new body that is free of diseases…
I know he is now with our Lord… finally resting in peace…
However, … however…I still feel sad because we will all miss him.
Amidst our sadness, We hold on to the hope that our Lord has given us. One day, one day we will meet again…
One day, the children will see daddy again and never be separated thereafter.
One day, the wife will meet her husband again in a new world…
Even though, we are sad…
There is hope…
One day…
The song, “Return to Eden” came to mind…
The song that was composed by D & D and Pastor Lim Gee Tiong after a sister went to be with the Lord.
Here is the video of the song,

Gawai Festival is Harvest Festival which marks the end of the rice harvest and the usher in of a new year of goodness.
Therefore rather than just singing, dancing and eating, for part of the Gawai Celebration at Rajawali, we taught the children about rice. Quite a few of the kindy teachers grow their own rice so they brought some of the tools they use to in rice harvesting to show the children. The children were shown how rice grains are pounded traditionally with pestle and mortar and later how the husks are separated from the rice by winnowing.
The children also had a chance to experience 1st hand, the pounding and winnowing of the rice grains.
The children also had a chance to see and touch different kinds of rice on that day.
Then for the feast at the end of the day, rice was also served together with ayam pansoh and tapioca leaves. The rice was cooked and wrapped with different kinds of leaves collected wild from the jungle.

Rajawali is a multi racial kindy. We are of many races, Iban, Bidayuh, Kenyah, Kayan, Lun Bawang, Kelabit, Melanau, … and Chinese. In the past, we had, Sikhs and even a little Penan girl. We often say we are truly 1Malaysia.
On 27 of May the last day of school for the 1st semester, we had the 1st ever Gawai Celebration. We used to celebrate only Chinese New Year at kindy. This year as suggested by Aunty Siok Hong, we decided to have a Pre Gawai celebration.
For the celebration, as much as possible all staffs and children are asked to dressed up in their own traditional costumes or in a costumes of another race.
Here I would like to show you some of them all dressed up.

I was teaching about relatives in my 6-year-old English class. The vocabulary of that day were uncle, aunt and cousins. The book uses the word “aunt” rather than “aunty” but kids use aunty in their everyday life. So I explained,
“Your mother’s sister is your aunt. Your father’s sister is also your aunt.”
“Aunt” is the other word for “Aunty”
“You can use both “aunt” and “aunty”.
“The other word for “aunty” is “aunt”.
Then I went on to say, ” Your father’s brother is your uncle. Your mother’s brother is also your uncle.”
Immediately after I said that, I heard a boy in the class saying very loudly,
” And the other word for “uncle” is “unc”.
Hahaha, I was jammed for a few seconds, didnt know how to react. Then, I laughed, what a smart kid, such quick thinking, what a good sense of deduction at such a young age.
In the end, I told the boy that there is no such word, “unc”.
How I wish there is “unc” for his sake. However, in Aunty Chiew Ling’s dictionary, there is “unc” , the other word for “uncle” written in permanant ink.

After looking through the photos of Black & White day at Rajawali, I thought that black and white are such nice colours especially when you match them together. Haha, didn’t really black & white before. Well done, Aunty Ketrin for suggesting Black & White.
Every time I look through photos of the children taken the kindy , I am reminded that kids are just so cute and lovely. Once again I remember why I came to work at the kindy. I am once again sure that I am working at the right place. Great photography, Roy. You are one of my favourite photographers.

Children are lovely no matter what colour they wear.
Even the dullest black & white could not diminish the life, the joy, the loveliness, … that are found in children.
Here are some photos taken when Rajawali celebrated Black & White day.
Such lovely children, May they grow up to be God fearing man n woman. Amen

I have heard people ascribing Google to be as powerful as the “gods”. I must say i understand how people would come to that conclusion. For Google too, has helped me on quite a few occasions. Here is one of them….
I am attending a PTM training course for kindy teachers where I have to do assignments. Among them is an art assignment where I have to hand in at least 5 pieces of origami works. When the 5 Rajawali teachers attending the course came together to do the assignment, we soon discovered that the origami that we knew how to do were very limited. There were not enough ideas for all 5 of us to do 5 different ones even after we had flipped through all the origami books that we had. Furthermore, the examples of origami we had were too difficult for the kindy kids to do.
At the back of my mind, I remembered the incident where I was very frustrated when I taught the Year 2 classes how to make origami boat for the lesson on Transport. That was because there are too many steps of folding for that origami boat and the steps are complicated for the 6-years-olds. That incident caused me to almost give up teaching origami to kids because i didn’t know any easy origami for them to do.
That day I went home feeling rather frustrated wondering how i was going to complete my assignment. As soon as I got home, I turned on my laptop, DING!!!! My answer was there, “Google!!! Yes, google!!!”
So after I googled “origami for kids”, Wala!!! sites after sites of origami for kids were there right before my eyes. There were photos instructing you step by step, even videos showing you how to do it. Among the 1st few sites that I found, my problem was solved. I sat down and started trying out the origami and the next thing I know it was 11p.m. I only realized that I hadn’t had dinner when I cleaned up and got ready for bed that night.
Some of the origami that I did that night…
What do you think are these two??? My colleagues all guessed wrongly.
I was so happy that night when i lay in bed thinking, Google saved the day.
Having said that, i must add here that there are many things in life that we can’t “Google” to fix.
Google may have saved some of my days but Jesus is the Only Saviour. He saved my life … and the lives of many of others.
